The Teacher

There is an image in the teaching traditions of the East: a lamp does not diminish when it lights another lamp. The fire is not divided by the sharing — it multiplies. Cell Sixty-Six names this stage of the Lila journey: the Teacher, the one who has received enough and walked far enough that the natural movement now is to turn and offer the light to those who are still in the dark.

This is not the teacher of formal instruction. This is the teacher in the widest sense: the parent who transmits wisdom to a child by the quality of their presence; the friend who offers the honest word that opens a door; the colleague who demonstrates, by how they live, what is possible. Teaching in this sense is not a role you apply for — it is a natural overflow of having actually become something.

The question this cell asks is not "am I qualified to teach?" — the ego loves this question as a way of avoiding the responsibility. It asks: what do I know from the inside of my experience, from having actually lived through it, that someone else is currently struggling with? What have I learned that could genuinely help?

You do not have to know everything to offer something real. You only have to have walked a little further down a path that someone else is just beginning.

What I have been given freely, I offer freely. The teaching is complete in the giving.
