Purification

Purification — Shuddhi in the Sanskrit tradition — is one of the central operations of the spiritual path. Cell Twenty-One on the Lila board marks the zone where old patterns, old identities, old ways of relating begin to break down so that something truer can emerge. This process is rarely comfortable. The dissolution of what is familiar feels like loss even when it is actually liberation, because we have identified with these patterns for so long that their release feels like losing ourselves.

The great teachers across every tradition are unanimous on one point: you cannot carry the old consciousness into the new life. Something must go. What must go is not arbitrary — it is precisely the thing that has been keeping you from the more expanded version of yourself: the belief that you are not worthy, the habit of self-protection that has become self-limitation, the story that your past determines your future.

Landing here is a signal that a purification is actively underway. The process may not feel graceful from the inside. The invitation is to cooperate with it rather than resist it: to release what is being asked of you with as much grace as you can access, trusting that the emptiness created is not permanent.

The practical medicine: identify one belief, habit, or relationship dynamic that you have been sensing needs to end. Write it down. Then write what you imagine you will gain when it is finally released.
