Liberation

Moksha — liberation — is the culminating aim of the Vedic path, the freedom from the cycle of birth and rebirth, the release from the unconscious repetition of karma. Cell Forty-Three offers a taste of this state: not the final liberation of the enlightened being, but the experiential glimpse of freedom that arrives when a particular pattern of bondage is seen through and released.

These moments of partial liberation are real and they are precious. When you see through a story you have been living as absolute truth — the story that you are not enough, or that love is not available to you, or that you must earn your worth — and you feel, in your body, the release of that story, you are experiencing a real liberation. Smaller in scope than moksha perhaps, but identical in quality.

The gift of Cell Forty-Three is the recognition that liberation is not earned through years of perfect practice — it arrives in the moment of genuine seeing. And genuine seeing is available in any moment. The cage is made of stories, and stories can be released.
