Higher Wisdom

Cell Sixty-Two — Higher Wisdom — is the destination of the Gratitude ladder from Cell Forty-Six. The connection between gratitude and higher wisdom is not arbitrary: an open, grateful heart is precisely the condition in which deeper teaching can be received. The person who is fighting with reality cannot hear what reality is telling them. The person who has genuinely accepted and appreciated the exact life they have been given has created an inner spaciousness in which guidance from the highest level can arrive.

Prajna-paramita — transcendental wisdom — is described in the Buddhist tradition as the wisdom that is simultaneously the path to liberation and liberation itself. It is not wisdom about something; it is the quality of awareness that sees through the constructions of the ordinary mind to what is actually true.

Arriving here suggests that you are currently in a period of genuine learning and genuine receiving — that the teachings are arriving through your experience, through the people around you, through your practice, through whatever difficulty or beauty is present in your life. The higher wisdom is always arriving. The question is whether the channel is open enough to receive it.
