Sacred Heart

Cell Fifty-Six is placed at the heart of the Lila's upper realm, and it names the quality that all the other cells have been preparing the player to discover: Love — not as an emotion, not as a relationship, but as the fundamental quality of awareness itself. When the mystics of every tradition arrived at the deepest truth they could articulate, they came back consistently to some version of this: at the base of everything, there is love.

The Sanskrit word Prema — unconditional divine love — points to this: a love that does not depend on the worthiness of its object, that does not turn off when things go badly, that is not the same as liking or approval, but is the basic posture of consciousness toward existence. When the Sacred Heart opens at this level, the person literally sees the world differently: the same tree, the same stranger, the same difficult situation appears changed — not because it has changed, but because the observer has.

This cell is not asking you to perform love or manufacture a feeling you do not have. It is asking you to investigate: beneath all the conditioned reactions, behind the fear and the judgment and the preference, what is the quality of awareness that is there when all of that falls away? What remains?

What would it mean to live from that place today?

Love is not something I do. It is what I am, when I remember myself fully.
