The Journey Spread is a path reading. It is designed for moments when something is in motion - a transition, a decision already made, a new chapter that has just begun - and what you need is a clear view of the full road rather than an answer to a single question. Seven cards track the arc from where momentum came from, through where you stand now, to where the path is heading.
What the Seven Positions Cover
Card 1 - Past momentum: The force that set things in motion. What has been building, what was decided, what happened that created the current situation. This is the card of origin - not the distant past but the relevant recent past that explains why you are on this road at all.
Card 2 - What you are leaving behind: What is releasing as you move forward. Sometimes this is a comfort. Sometimes it is a loss. The card here does not say whether leaving is easy or hard - it identifies what it is you are actually moving away from.
Card 3 - Present position: Where you stand right now on this path. The quality of the current moment, the energy of this stage of the journey. The Three of Wands here suggests you are already further along than you may feel. The Two of Swords suggests a point of suspended decision that has not fully resolved.
Card 4 - The obstacle or test: What this road is asking you to navigate or overcome. Not a reason to stop - every journey has a test. This position names what yours is.
Card 5 - Resources and allies: What is available to you. What you have, who is with you, what strengths or support are in your favor on this road. This position is often underestimated when it surfaces a quiet, steady card. The Four of Pentacles is not glamorous, but it is solid ground.
Card 6 - Near future: What is approaching - the next stage, what you will encounter before the horizon.
Card 7 - The horizon: The longer destination. Where this road leads if the current energy holds. This is the farthest point the spread reads.
How to Read the Path
Read the spread as a narrative: 1 explains where momentum came from, 3 tells you where you are, and 7 tells you where it leads. Then read 4 and 5 together - the obstacle and your resources - because those two in combination tell you what is being asked and what you have to answer it with.
Hold your journey - the decision, the transition, the new chapter - clearly as you draw.
