What does dreaming of Cave mean?

Caves in dream imagery have always belonged to the inward journey. Jung treated cave dreams as natural images of descent into the unconscious — entering what does not see daylight, and discovering that one's own interior has rooms the daily self has not visited. The mood of the cave matters as much as its presence. A welcoming cave often points to a private inner space worth retreating into; a frightening one tends to mark contents that have been left in the dark longer than is healthy. What is found inside — water, an animal, a figure, silence — usually carries the actual message. In dream language a cave rarely calls for excavation in the literal sense. It more often invites a softer descent, a willingness to enter the parts of oneself that prefer not to be hurried, and to learn what they have been keeping.
