The four major lines are the foundation of any palm reading:
The Heart Line runs horizontally across the upper palm, from the edge of the palm (pinky side) toward the index or middle finger. It governs emotional life, romantic patterns, and the way you give and receive love.

The Head Line crosses the middle of the palm horizontally, often beginning near the life line at the thumb. It governs intellect, communication style, and how you approach decisions.

The Life Line curves around the base of the thumb, sweeping from between the thumb and index finger down toward the wrist. Contrary to popular belief, its length does not predict lifespan — it reflects the quality, energy, and vitality of your life.
- Wide arc away from thumb: high energy, adventurous
- Close to thumb: tendency toward caution and reserve
- Broken line: significant life changes or resets
- Multiple life lines: strong life force, physical resilience
- Chains or islands: periods of lower vitality or transition
The Fate Line (not everyone has one) runs vertically from the wrist toward the middle finger. It represents your sense of purpose, career trajectory, and the degree to which external forces shape your life.
- Strong, deep line: life strongly directed by a clear sense of purpose
- Absent: more free-form life, less influenced by conventional paths
- Starts from life line: life built largely by own efforts
- Starts from base of palm: destiny influenced by public life or society
- Breaks and restarts at different angles: major career or life direction changes
