Full Moon Release Ritual

Harness the peak energy of the full moon to release what no longer serves you and complete unfinished cycles.

The full moon is the peak of the lunar cycle — a time of maximum illumination, heightened emotion, and powerful release. What was planted at the new moon is now visible; what no longer serves must be released to make room for new growth.

The full moon’s energy is amplified 3 days before and 3 days after the exact peak. During this window, emotions run high, dreams intensify, and psychic sensitivity increases.

Full Moon Release Ritual:

  1. Write your release list. On paper, write everything you want to let go of: fears, resentments, limiting beliefs, patterns, relationships that have run their course, habits that drain you. Be honest and specific.

  2. Acknowledgment ceremony. Read each item on your list aloud and say: “I acknowledge [this], I thank it for what it taught me, and I release it with love.” This prevents the energy of rejection or suppression.

  3. The burning ceremony. Safely burn the paper (fireproof bowl, outdoor fire pit, or fireplace). As it burns, watch the smoke carry your releases away. If burning isn’t safe, tear the paper into tiny pieces and scatter them in running water or bury them in soil.

  4. Moonwater charging. Place a jar of clean water outdoors or on a windowsill to absorb the full moon’s energy overnight. Use it the next morning to cleanse your crystals, water plants with intention, or drink with a gratitude prayer.

  5. Gratitude close. Acknowledge what the past cycle brought. Write 5 things you’re grateful for from the last 2 weeks. Gratitude is the highest vibration and seals the release work by filling the space left behind.

The sign the full moon occupies determines its flavor. A full moon in Scorpio intensifies emotional release. In Capricorn, release ambition and control. In Pisces, surrender attachments and surrender to flow.
