Some questions are harder to ask than others. Whether the person you are with is being honest with you - fully, not selectively - is one of them. The Fidelity Spread is designed for that exact question, and it does not soften what it reads.
What This Spread Is Actually Reading
This is not a reading about whether your partner "loves you." That question is too broad and too easy to mistake for a different question. This spread reads something more specific: the current state of commitment, loyalty, and truthfulness in a relationship. What each person is actually intending, what they are keeping to themselves, and where the bond is solid versus where it has developed cracks.
The spread lays out five positions across both partners and the connection between them.
The Five Positions
Position 1 - Your true intentions: What you are bringing to this relationship right now, at the level of real intention rather than stated intention. This card is often uncomfortable to read honestly. A Seven of Swords here does not necessarily mean you are being deceitful - it can mean you are operating with information advantage, or keeping something back "for good reasons." Read it straight.
Position 2 - Their true intentions: The energetic truth of what the other person is currently holding in this relationship. A Two of Cups here means genuine mutual care is present. A Five of Swords means something about how they are operating in this relationship has an element of taking more than giving, or winning at the other''s expense.
Position 3 - The bond between you: What currently holds you together. This card reads the actual connective tissue - not history (that is position 1), not future (that is position 5), but what the bond is made of right now. A Four of Pentacles here means the bond is held together partly by material security or fear of loss. A Strength card means what holds you together is a genuine capacity for mutual care through difficulty.
Position 4 - Hidden motives: What is not being said or acknowledged on either side - the thing beneath the surface of the relationship''s official story. This card rarely reads as neutral. When the Moon appears here, something important is obscured and the reading is telling you to look for it.
Position 5 - The road ahead: The direction this relationship is moving if the current energies hold. Not a verdict. A direction.
Reading This Spread Without Projection
The hardest part of a fidelity reading is reading positions 2 and 4 without filling them with what you already believe or fear. The cards are asking you to receive information, not to confirm your existing story. Read each card for what it says before reading it for what it confirms.
