Oomancy (from Greek oon, egg) reads the egg as a symbol of potential and fate. The classic method: break a raw egg into a glass of water and observe how the white spreads and solidifies. Ships suggest travel; threads, entanglements; a ring, marriage; a shroud-shape, misfortune. In the modern folk version described in the Isida source, both white and yolk are mixed on a plate or scalded with boiling water, and predictions are made from the resulting figures.
