Body reading

Moleosophy

Moleosophy reads the placement and character of moles on the body as a map of personal fortune and destiny.

β€œThe skin remembers what the stars wrote at birth β€” each mark a signature of the celestial forces present at the first breath.”

Journal Isida, 1909, "Practical Divination"

Moleosophy β€” sometimes called mole reading or naeviology β€” is the divinatory interpretation of moles, birthmarks, and skin blemishes as indicators of character and fate. Every mole's position on the body carries a specific meaning derived from astrological and physiognomic frameworks.

A mole on the right hand signified skill and financial fortune; one on the forehead indicated wisdom or ambition. Moles near the eyes were linked to emotional nature, while those on the neck or throat related to communication and social destiny.

The practice was extensively documented in 17th and 18th century European almanacs. In Indian tradition, the science of 'til' (mole reading) remains an active branch of astrology today, with detailed regional variations in interpretation.
