Every Velvet & Vow purchase includes printed ritual instructions. Each object is a starting point - here are the traditions that inform the work.

Lunar Timing

Every object in the apothecary is charged, sealed, or inscribed during a specific lunar phase. New moon for beginnings, waxing for growth, full for amplification, waning for release. The moon is not metaphor here - it is the clock.

Planetary Correspondence

Each amulet is matched to a planetary ruler - Mars for courage, Venus for love, Saturn for boundaries, Mercury for communication. Metal, herb, stone, and color all align. Working with correspondence deepens the resonance of any practice.

Apothecary Craft

Tinctures are slow-steeped for a minimum of six weeks in high-proof grain alcohol. No fillers, no synthetic fragrance. Botanicals are sourced from small foragers or grown in the workroom garden. Batch numbers printed on every label.

Velvet & Vow began in a rented studio in Edinburgh with a secondhand rolling mill, a small gas torch, and a belief that objects made with intention carry it. Eight years later, the workroom is the same size. Every amulet is still cut, filed, engraved, and polished by the same pair of hands.

The herbalism practice runs alongside the metalwork. Tinctures are brewed in the kitchen, dried botanicals hung from the ceiling all autumn, and the foraging calendar shapes the production calendar. Nothing is rushed because the moon does not wait for back-orders.

The apothecary ships worldwide in the second week of every moon cycle. Orders placed outside the window are held and fulfilled together - never rushed - so that every object arrives with the same charge it left with.
